Haven’t we all been there? “I’ll do this when…” “I’ll do that if…” it all adds up to when WE are able. The never-ending excuses, like lack of resources, time, or anything in between. The perfect example was Moses “…BUT I am slow of speech and tongue” (exodus 4:10). Yes! Moses told the God of the heavens, creator of the universe… BUT!!!
Then, God said “Who made Man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now GO!!!” (Exodus 4: 11-12). The best part: “… I will help you speak and will teach what to say.” (Exodus 4:12).
Listen, when God gives you the go, or when you step in faith with the all-knowing, all-powerful God of the universe: He equips, He provides and He makes a way. Stop giving excuses to a God who puts the super in your natural. Let’s stop putting Him in our natural and minuscule box.
He. Does. Not. Fit.
While we do that, we miss on the miracles and the glory ahead. I have had more excuses than I can count. This blog is a perfect example. I kept having downloads, after downloads on writings. But, I always had an excuse: I don’t have time, nobody is going to read it..etc… I reached to a conclusion: Do it Scared! I don’t ever want to get to heaven and hear God say:
“You didn’t get more because you always had excuses“
God
Others who had excuses:
- Some made excuses for not accepting Christ (Luke 14: 15-20).
- Jeremiah said he was too young to be a prophet (Jeremiah 1: 4-10).
- Adam and Eve played the blame game (Genesis 3:12-13).
- Making excuses when the Holy Spirit convicts you of sin (Doubt: Romans 14:23, Harden Hearts: Hebrews 3:8, Evil Words: Psalm 141:4).
- Excuses for believing there is no God (Romans 1: 20).
- Laziness (Proverbs 26: 12-16, Proverbs 20:4).
- Disciples wanted to bury their head or say goodbye to their families before following Jesus (Luke 9: 59-62).
- Find out something you don’t like about your so you give reasons for a divorce (Matthew 5:32).
Excuses is essentially rebellion against God. Trust Him. Go ahead, dream, write the vision…but most importantly DREAM BIG & then with His lead…JUMP! Let Him take care of the rest. I’ve had my shares of excuses. It is indeed a process of walking in true and honest relationship with God. I still find myself making excuses. But when the excuses come, rebel against them and say “But Moses did it…” “But Jeremiah did it…” “But David did it…” get your example from people who overcame and rebel against the excuses.
God is in the impossible and miracle making business.
